Following William Roache’s charge earlier this year he has now been charged with five new accounts of indecent assault. William Roache who plays Ken Barlow in the ITV soap ‘Coronation Street’ was charged earlier this year with rape of a 15 year old girl in 1967.
He is due to appear in court today in relation to this. Since this charge further victims have come forward which have lead to the five new counts of indecent assault involving four girls aged between 11 and 16.
The fact that further victims have come forward highlights the importance of naming suspects as had the initial charge not been reported the additional victims may not have felt able to speak out. The fact that victims know that are not the only ones instils confidence in them that they will be believed and that they are not alone in coming forward and making an allegation.
In addition to the criminal matter the victims may have civil claims and should any of William Roache’s victims or anyone else that has been affected by this story wish to speak to us, a member of our abuse team will be happy to offer some initial free advice without any obligations.
