Business Crime Solicitor Jeremy Summers on the Director Of Public Prosecutions resignation
Kier Starmer QC has today announced he is to step down as Director Of Public Prosecutions after 5 years in office.
He is widely believed to have had a successful term in the post, which has included the News International prosecutions and his guidance in relation to prosecuting assisted suicides. At a time when the government is considering a temporary withdrawal from the Human Rights Act, to enable the deportation of Abu Qatada, the choice of Mr Starmer's successor will be keenly awaited.
