Calls for a UK Ban on Promoting Cosmetic Surgery to under 18s

By Principal Lawyer, Clinical Negligence

The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons today called for a ban on promoting Cosmetic Surgery to under 18s. They also demanded an end to financial inducements, two for one offers, time limited offers and the use of unrealistic imagery.

About time too, many observers will say. As a Clinical & Medical Negligence Solicitor specialising in botched cosmetic surgery compensation claims, part of my claims caseload includes men and women who have been seduced by the cosmetic surgery factories that advertise on TV, the internet and in many magazines.

The injuries from a rushed decision to get cosmetic surgery are often permanently disfiguring.

These cosmetic surgery companies operate a "pile 'em high, sell 'em cheap" business where millionaire cosmetic surgeons work very long hours operating on 10 patients or more a day.

The financial rewards to these types of plastic surgeons and the companies are immense. However, when cosmetic surgery goes wrong the medical insurance companies, the NHS and Cosmetic Surgery Claims Solicitors are the ones left to pick up the pieces.
