Legal Aid, Sentencing & Punishment of Offenders Bill set to receive Royal Assent

The Legal Aid, Sentencing & Punishment of Offenders Bill is finally approved by the House of Commons and the House of Lords and is set to receive Royal Assent.
During the progress of the Bill through the Lords, the Government were defeated a record 14 times. The media interest has been fairly muted and the debate has been dominated by the insurance industry.
What is known is that the Act will reduce damages for victims of Clinical Negligence and make their cases harder to pursue. Access to justice will be reduced for the injured and vulnerable.
At RJW we would expect to continue to carefully assess the merits of everybody’s case we receive. We recognise that each injured person who seeks our help deserves quality legal advice. We take pride in ourselves for succeeding in risky cases, against the odds, at no cost to our clients who all receive 100% of their damages.
We will continue to deliver high quality legal advice and we will continue to succeed in the most challenging of cases.
