James' practice encompasses all areas of Criminal Law and Police Misconduct including; attendance and representation at the Police Station, Road Traffic Law, Magistrates Court and Crown Court proceedings and formal Police Misconduct hearings. James deals exclusively with Police Officers of all ranks and manages cases across the whole range of criminal and misconduct legislation.

James has particular experience with Police Officers who find themselves under investigation or subject to formal proceedings in criminal and misconduct matters. He has worked exclusively with the Police Federation and its members since joining Russell Jones and Walker, now Slater and Gordon Lawyers, in January 2004 and has a wealth of experience in representing officers in cases covering the whole spectrum of the criminal law and police conduct regulations including proceedings for serious sexual offences, offences of serious assault / excessive force, drug misuse, offences relating to the administration of police powers and public justice, on duty road traffic offences.

On leaving university James worked for the Criminal Departments at Hugh James Ford Simey Solicitors and other criminal based firms in the Cardiff area.

He joined the Cardiff office in January 2004 initially working with the Police Federation for South Wales Police, Gwent Police and Dyfedd Powys Police. In September 2004 James transferred to our Birmingham office and currently works alongside the Police Federations of the West Midlands Police, West Mercia, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Leicestershire.

James graduated with a degree in Law from the University of Wales Swansea in 2001 and successfully completed the Police Station Representative Accreditation programme shortly after graduation.
