Helen is a Principal Lawyer (Partner) at Slater and Gordon Lawyers in Manchester specialising in Asbestos related diseases such as Mesothelioma, and other chest problems including Occupational Asthma and Silicosis.
She recently successfully pursued an asbestos compensation case against the Ministry of Defence (Mod) on behalf of the family of Doris Timbrell who has been exposed to asbestos during the Second World War whilst making gas masks. HM Government tried to avoid the claim on the basis it had been pursued too late.
Helen deals with compensation claims on behalf of people who worked for Turner and Newalls and other companies within their large group. She regularly submits applications to the scheme established to compensate victims.
Helen sits on the Turner and Newalls Advisory Committee to ensure the interests of workers suffering from asbestos diseases as a result of Turner and Newall's activities in the past, are protected both now and into the future.
Helen has over ten years experience assisting people with asbestos related conditions and chest problems. She has been involved in a number of test litigation cases in this area including Barker, Rice v NDLB and the EL Trigger Litigation.
Helen joined John Pickering and Partners (now part of Slater and Gordon Lawyers) having completed her studies in August 2005. Helen trained with the firm and qualified as a Solicitor in 2007 and a became a partner in November 2012.
Helen studied Law with History at Keele University before going on to study the Legal Practice Course at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Helen is a Member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and a Member of the Manchester Law Society.
