Chris Fairhurst Principal Lawyer, Family Law

Experience Profile

Chris is a principal lawyer in the family law team in Manchester and has over 20 years experience specialising in financial and children arrangements following separation and divorce. He acts for clients both nationwide and living overseas.

Chris is one of a limited number of duel qualified Resolution and Children Panel Accredited specialists in the country, which provides him with the expertise to assist clients throughout a case, including appeals to the High Court and Court of Appeal.

Central to his approach and support of clients at their most vulnerable, is a belief that each family is unique. Every client will have circumstances that will require careful consideration of their individual needs, and he strives for a positive outcome.

As clients increasingly seek to resolve any disputes as quickly as possible without unnecessary cost and upset, Chris seeks to guide clients through sympathetic negotiation, including table meetings and utilising mediation or other alternative dispute resolution. His approach is non-confrontational and takes into account the needs of the whole family.

Chris often makes radio and television appearances. He has made several on BBC Radio London and BBC Radio 5 Live. He recently commented on a high profile child abduction case for BBC 2's The Victoria Derbyshire Show.
