We offer a unique service to clients who are invited to attend disciplinary, dismissal or grievance hearings. Although you are entitled to be accompanied by a trade-union official or colleague, this is not always a realistic option. Many employees work in places with no union presence, and it may not be appropriate to take a colleague with you. We can arrange for an expert companion to go with you, who will be on your side and be familiar with handling disciplinary and grievance meetings.
The difficulty for many of our clients arises when they are unable to take a colleague as a companion, but they work in a non-unionised environment. In those circumstances, we can now provide a trade-union representative companion for support at what can be critically important, and often very difficult, hearings.
Representation at grievance and disciplinary hearings
Your companion can not only take notes and provide psychological support at this critical time, but also make representations, ask questions and sum up the case, on your behalf.
This has long been recognised as an invaluable service for employees who are trade-union members. However, you do not need to be a member of a trade union to take advantage of the statutory right to be accompanied.
Many workplaces these days are not unionised, and for many executives, seeking a colleague to act as a companion is simply not an option. In non-unionised workplaces, and subject to availability, Slater & Gordon Lawyers can now provide our clients with a trained trade-union representative to accompany them to such meetings.
The executive reps service is available only to clients of Slater & Gordon Lawyers.
